Ep.55 - Juice WRLD, "Oval Four" & The General Election
On Ep.55 of WG: The death of Juice WRLD, redemption for the "Oval Four", the significance of Fred Hampton & some words ahead of the General Election.
In a week where:
- Anthony Joshua goes the distance w/Andy Ruiz and wins back his World Boxing titles.
- Sydney Air quality plummets after days of Bush fires.
- Russia is banned from 2020 Olympics & 2022 FIFA World Cup.
- Five people die & eight go missing after volcano erupts at Whakaari/White Island, New Zealand.
- US House Democrats drop articles of impeachment against Trump.
- Greta Thunberg has been named TIME Magazine's "Person of the Year"
In Music: (8:45) Juice WRLD is dead at 21. At the time of release, we don't know specifically how he died, but I wanted to talk about drugs in Hip-Hop & how the conversation on music consumption needs to be recognised more.
In the 1st of three Life segments: (24:11) After 50 years, the "Oval Four" are officially recognised as innocent after they went to jail in 1972 for theft & police assault.
In the 2nd Life segment: (33:16) Fred Hampton, a prodigy of the Black Panthers & Civil Rights, was a truly fascinating person, I caught an outstanding Twitter thread that explained just how special he was.
In the final Life segment: (50:27) It's the General Election on the day of release. I wanted to read a great piece by comedian Frankie Boyle on everything General Election.
