Ep.58 - Olympics Hype, Star Wars & Importance Of Art
On the first WG of 2020: I went to see Star Wars: ROS, someone tried to donate £1m to "Elite" schools, but only if they gave it to white boys, I begin the HYPE for the Tokyo Olympics, and how will Art play its part in the new decade?
In a week where:
- Serena Williams & LeBron James are named AP Athletes of the decade.
- "Cats" is projected to lose $70 Million.
- A Texas judge ordered conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to pay $100,000 (£76,000) for using his show to promote falsehoods that the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre was a hoax.
- UK Music purchases hit its highest level since 2006.
In Film/TV: (8:45) I went to see "Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker"... And I left feeling pretty flat.
In Life: (21:17) A donor wanted to give £1m to some "Elite" schools, but with the condition that it'd be only utilised to help white boys.
In Sports: (30:06) Now that it's officially 2020, I can get hyped for the Tokyo Summer Olympics! We begin the hype train by looking at some names to look out for on the run-up.
Lastly, in Music: (51:39) Art has been paramount in reflecting the times, so with the new decade & all that, what will be art's role in the new 20s?
