Ep.117 - Sarah Everard, The Police & NFTs
On Ep.117 of WG: The NFT craze, US Collegiate Sports is a racial cesspool, Judas & The Black Messiah have no lead according to The Oscars & the police's role in the Sarah Everard story.
In a week where:
- Murray Walker, the Voice of F1, dies aged 97.
- "Marvellous" Marvin Hagler dies aged 66.
- The Grammys happened.
- The Oscar nominations dropped.
- A 21-year-old Georgia man was arrested in the killings of eight people at three massage parlours, many of them women of Asian descent. /
In the first of two Life segments: (4:37) Let's talk about NFTs. What are they? Who the hell are these people forking millions for a few lines of code? Are they dumb? Will they last?
In Sports: (25:07) The NCAA Basketball Tournament is on the horizon and we know why it's happening. Money. But looking past that, how gross does this US Collegiate Sports system get when we account for racial dynamics?
In Film/TV: (38:13) Judas & The Black Messiah got a lot of love with the Oscar Nominations, but how does a film, where you could make an argument for two lead actors, get two Supporting Actor nominations instead?
Lastly, in the 2nd Life segment: (47:32) The Sarah Everard story is a commentary on many things, but one that should be universally talked about is the police's role in not just this case, but for the many cases of women suffering from harassment, kidnapping & maybe murder.
