Ep.123 - Shock G & Talking To Yourself
On Ep.123 of WG: The Olympics are banning protests again, Shock G of Digital Underground has passed, The United Kingdom is fracturing and the concept of talking to yourself.
In a week where:
- India is suffering a COVID outbreak in record numbers.
- Another anti-mask, anti-lockdown protest goes down in Hyde Park.
- Manchester City beat Spurs 1-0 to win the League Cup.
- The Oscars came & went.
- RIP 20-year-old Folajimi Olubunmi-Adewole, who died after jumping into the River Thames to rescue a woman who fell from London Bridge.
In Sports: (6:01) The Olympics have once again shut down protests or any political reference apart from shirts with soft safewords. This, coming from sports bodies that are inherently political.
In Music: (22:04) Founder of Digital Underground Shock G has died, which is a good time as any to talk about the backstory & legacy of one of Hip-Hop's most inventive people.
In the first of two Life segments: (38:26) The United Kingdom is fracturing more and more as days go by, but whilst I would love some anarchy and blame it all on the Conservatives, it's worth noting the very likely negatives of the UK splitting up.
Lastly, in the 2nd Life segment: (54:23) I sometimes to myself, I don't know if I do it more than most or less than most, but I do it. So is it weird? Is it a sign of something worse?
