On Ep.147 of WG: Lashana Lynch, Black & Queer love in Hollywood, Dave Chappelle & I went to see a film.
In a week where:
- Poland is thinking about leaving the EU.
- China/Taiwan tensions rise.
- Tyson Fury knocks out Deontay Wilder in the 11th round to retain WBC heavyweight title and win the second fight in the matchup trilogy.
- A COVID-19 Pill could be on the horizon.
- 70 firefighters are called in as a flat in Battersea bursts into flames.
In the 1st segment of an all film episode: (8:36) We begin with an interview with Ms Lashana Lynch who I desperately want to be given the keys to the "007" franchise.
In the 2nd segment: (25:47) With films such as Moonlight setting such potential for Black Queer love stories, why is Hollywood not biting? Let's try to find an answer past the obvious.
In the 3rd segment: (36:44) Dave Chappelle is back for one more stand-up in his Netflix deal... And he triples down on everything...
Lastly, (53:57) I went to the BFI London Film Festival to see "The Harder They Fall", a Netflix Original that will premiere on Netflix on November 1st. And whilst I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, I can't help but think existentially about films such as these.
