On Ep.91 of WG - Everything going down in Lebanon, the sudden urge to complain about people seeking asylum, African musicians are getting literally political, and Hip-Hop turns 47.
In a week where:
- Mark Zuckerberg joins the centibillionaire club.
- New Zealand goes 100 days without a domestic Coronavirus case.
- BBC R1Xtra presenter Sideman leaves his position after the BBC defends a white reporter saying The N repeatedly in a report. BBC DG backpedals the next day.
- MP Dawn Butler accuses the Metropolitan Police of "Institutional racism" after being wrongly stopped by police.
- Stephen Lawrence inquiry moves to 'inactive phase.
- Kamala Harris is Joe Biden's running mate for the 2020 US Election.
- The UK is officially in another recession.
In the 1st of two Life segments - (8:07) The explosion in Beirut, Lebanon has drawn the international lens over to the country. But as it turns out, the explosion was literally the boiling point.
In the 2nd Life segment - (20:42) The UK news media has suddenly started to talk about people seeking asylum by taking boats from France to the UK. And it's horrible on all angles.
In the 1st of two Music segments - (37:36) Some musicians across the African continent are going the extra mile for their people and have gone into politics. But whilst some have succeeded, some have failed. Some have died because of it.
In the final and 2nd Music segment - (49:53) On Tuesday, it was Hip-Hop's 47th birthday, so I thought I'd dedicate some of the show to it. Albeit a little bit pessimistic.
