Ep.92 - Jam Master Jay, A-Levels & Patriot Act
On Ep.92 of WG: A breakthrough in Jam Master Jay's murder case, the Government's U-Turn on A-Level results, Netflix cancelling one of my favourite shows and UK adults suffering from depression.
In a week where:
- Health Secretary to replace Public Health England with a specialist pandemic unit.
- The Japanese tanker that spilt 4,000 tons of oil on the coast of Mauritius, has split in two.
- Interim President of The National Black Police Association says Dawn Butler MP stop was "rooted in bias".
- Stormzy donates £500K to fund scholarships for disadvantaged students.
- The temperature in Death Valley reaches 54.4 degrees, the highest temperature ever recorded.
In the Music segment: (9:29) It has been nearly 20 years since the murder of Hip-Hop legend Jam Master Jay. The trail was so cold, Netflix did a documentary on it. But now, there have been two arrests connected to it and maybe we can finally get some answers.
In the first of two Life segments: (19:24) The UK Government has once again bottled a whole sector, going from downgrading A-Level students final grades to U-Turning days after Results Day. But this has been coming for a while and luckily, the pandemic has given a spotlight to the bullshit.
In Film/TV: (38:45) Netflix has once again shut down one of my favourite shows out right now, "Patriot Act w/Hasan Minhaj". Whilst its not surprising since the stage & live audience were so integral to the viewing experience, it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Lastly, in the 2nd Life segment: (51:42) Most of us have suffered in 2020, but one thing is coming very soon is people being depressed if they're not already. Apparently, it's already beginning as depression amongst UK adults has doubled since March.
